If you start it up after that and let it idle what happens?

possibly a throttle body. Is it cable or DBW

I dob't know if this could be similar to the problem I had with 2006 NA Mazda 6. Initial symptoms were similar, but progressively it worsened until it died during gear shifts. No error coded showed. Auto Electricians in Brentwood Park could solve it. It was towed to the dealer in Germiston. They used electric cleaning solvent to clean all earthing points, all electrical connectors, starting inside the car at the throttle sender and made their way to the engine bay.

The problem was resolved, it had more power & even the headlights were brighter.

Pointless but you can try. On DBW it does it automatically everytime you start the car.

I say throttle body as well, clean the throttle body and the "dying when slowing down" problem should go away.

I have seen this on many customers cars

tdi and gti is vastly different in how it does idling. There is literally no comparison at all.

The fact that the battery light comes on and a lot of faults say there are voltage drops/problems, maybe check all your earths and positive straps.

Also as Panic says it could be TB too, or it could be both.

I have seen 2 similar instances on Polo GTi's.
Are you modded? What mod's?

1. Throttle Body stays stuck and struggles to open re-when throttle applied but this hesitation can be felt when trying to accelerate again from lower speed.
2. Issue with piping or DV - basically a leak in the system.
