It maybe a better idea to have them properly serviced re- greased and re-booted by a CV expert, with a proper strapping tool etc. Pity you in Cpt I use CV Joint in Benoni & they know their stuff.

No need for a "cv expert". Cv's aren't rocket science
I buy broken/smashed/written off cars

They have the metal strapping tools to use instead of cable ties, which works much better. I also found that the quality of the boots they use are far superior to the stuff one gets from Autozone, Midas etc

Shot for the input gents,i believed in buying reasonably priced things at the stealers for the peace of mind of having oem quality...until i paid R180 for a small 90° bend "cam cover to pcv pipe" at barons which had to be ordered from P.E ,and the blady thing didnt even last a month and it was cracked in its linear half ....i decide to invest in aftermarket parts

Try get the softer silicone type boots, they are more expensive but last longer, the hard rubber ones give up pretty quick.

That special tool can be substituted by a tile nipper

I've used this many times and it works perfectly

Well we are never to old to learn something new. Thanks for the info. SALT in Edenvale is one of the larger suppliers of drive train related items to the motor trade. They have a branch in Cpt it might be worth a try 021 948 4288.
