Polo 9n3 GTI Jerking issues

Post by Potenza111 »

Hi Everyone

I feel like a total idiot. I wanted everything to be spotless, so I went and bought some engine cleaner, squirted it all over the engine bay and hosed the whole engine down afterwards.

Car was driving fine afterwards but recently (3 to 4 days afterwards) only when the car reaches driving temp, it starts jerking and missing.

The car drives fine if i don't feed it, but jerks when it boosts and when it idles.

I replaced the water temp sensor recently (I doubt its that)

I'm not sure if its the MAF sensor that got wet, the coilpack or the injectors.

I'm going to strip all of the sensors, coilpacks and clean it with electro cleaner and then give it a good dry with a trusty old hairdryer.

I don't have a VAG so didn't do diagnostics and there's no warning lights burning.
I have also switched off the ESP just to check, no luck.

Does anyone have some advice?

Have you had the car scanned?

TBH it sounds like the coilpacks...you just need to run a diagnostic to see which cylinders are misfiring..

Ok so I removed the coil packs and saw that the degreaser made a type of sludge inside the coil packs and on the spark plugs

Long story short: some ear buds, a heat gun and a rag (and about a hour of elbow grease) and
she is now driving like a dream again. :-D

The coil packs are very sensitive to water never hose the engine bay down.

@ every body. I use turpentine in a high pressure cleaning gun. It evaporates quik. Cleans nice. Causes no ****. Then just silicone spray everything for that new look
