PapaJo,

Here is the pic of the sleeve they put in to reduce the exhaust wheel.

Image

Turbo is back, now to take spare one out and install. Then see when i can take caddy for tune.

Hope all is good this time round.

And a pic of the comp side billet

This is a first to see this being done to a housing. I'm used to getting another housing with smaller od. Have they done this before to ither cars? My worry is about the sleeve part moving over time with heat cycles and damaging the turbine wheel. Those look to be 2 different tyoes of material too for the sleeve and housing. Maybe the sleeve was taper machined in to ensure it is pushed tight once flange is fitted.

PapaJo, apparently they do. They have done a couple with one being a vw g1. Pushing plenty boost for over a year now and still running strong. Maybe they taper but I cant tell you. Don't know how they do it.
Put it in today but found boost leak at BOV. Fix tomorrow lol

according to calc the theoretical max will be 261kw (simple math).

but taking into account losses in efficieny and initial tuning adjustments maybe in the region of 250kw if youre lucky. perhaps you will gain extra as your tune progresses to just under 260kw.

post dyno graphs. happy public holiday.

SebastianS, sounds good. Maths was not my favorite subject.

I will try push it to the 400kw mark but you know that all comes with time and loads of moola.

You will need a much much larger turbo for 400kw, your current turbo is a nice mild streetable turbo.

Did you try a turbo without a sleeve?

Stop wasting time and money on sleeves for the turbo and get a proper exhaust housing. Hope the turbine wheel was not trimmed down in size to try and give you the smaller exhaust wheel as that may be where your problem may originate from.

You will end up paying more to rectify the problems you have as to another turbo that you could bolt on and enjoy the power.

If somebody hands me a turbo with a sleeve in the exhaust housing I'll leave it there and walk away without paying him.
