Hi Volkswagen Club
Hope i can get some help or just an idea on what wrong with my MK1 Citi 1.4 Carburetor.
I recently changed my carburetor and baseplate and have no problems until recently i started smelling petrol and burning oil. there is a lag when pulling off like the engine is being flooded but once i pass 2000RPM the lag and smell disappears.
I was checking the carburetor last night and when i removed the air filter an started the engine the was excessive smoke coming from the breather pipe that comes off the top of the block to the side of the air filter.
I haven't connected the pipe back to the air filter because the problem disappears when i do this.
What does this mean? are my rings worn/broken ?
could it be something else ?
I'd appreciate the help and advice.
lag and black smoke
