1.9 tdi vs 2.0 tdi
Hi guys I am planning on buying a jetta 5 tdi and would like to know what to look out for when buying a tdi jetta and also the 1.9 vs 2.0 is the one more more prone to problems or are both good engines?

basically the same engine. Drive them and buy on car condition and km.

Re: 1.9 tdi vs 2.0 tdi
If im not mistaken i think the 2.0 is a 16v PD..?
When a car tailgates me, i slow down - then floor it and give them a cloud of diesel smoke to choke on

Re: 1.9 tdi vs 2.0 tdi
1.9 was still PD, 2.0 should be common rail...
If i was in your shoes i would buy the 1.9 if there are intentions to mod, but the 2.0 if i was going to leave it mostly stock.
It is an ingenius solution to a problem that should have never existed in the 1st place...

Re: 1.9 tdi vs 2.0 tdi
Only the later MkV Jetta's may have been common rail, the 2.0 16v's were PD just like the 1.9 8v's.MarshallGTi wrote: ↑Thu Apr 19, 2018 12:42 pm1.9 was still PD, 2.0 should be common rail...

Re: 1.9 tdi vs 2.0 tdi
16v had some issues with the head cracking in certain spots, then again so does the 8v near the glow plug entry point.

Re: 1.9 tdi vs 2.0 tdi
Mostly the earlier models, 2004/2005 were more prone to this issues
I would get the 2.0Tdi its just better
