Polo 1.9 96kw 9n3 exhaust

Post by Deezo777 »

Guys please assist as to what would be the best back box to use that could possibly make a difference to the stock one. I only have a fmic and software with a decat. I do not want to go straight pipe! Please share your experience.

Just go straight pipe. Or small freeflow box

What reason do you not want to go straight pipe? I was also hesitant at first. But I love it. You can hear turbo all day long and it has a nice deep growl.

Best bang for buck.

But you could definitely get a very nice exhaust made up at any of the places, just depends on your budget.

Straight pipe all the way :hurray:

or u can fit a small freeflow box,but 1.9 tdi with straight pipe is stil quite enough for everyday driving.

My brother has a straight pipe on his tdi...it's very annoying. I work shifts and cannot be going home at odd hours with the car so noisy. I drive long distance and don't want the car to be loud

Will the free flow box make any difference acceleration wise...I don't want to go that route without having a noticeable difference

No, no exhaust mod really increases performance on the tdi's

waset of time if you think it is a performance mod. All it does is make noise - not HP.

Yes @panic would putting a freeflow box help over the standard box?

No. The exhaust is not a power restriction on those cars.

I would say just a decat is efficient..

All bigger tubing does is change the sound of the exhaust

As above, downpipe is a waste of cash.

Just cut out the particulate filter (decat) and replace it with a straight pipe.

If not enough sound remove the rear box and fit a straight pipe.

Quick question - If you were to add more fuel & boost(Software) , Would the stock 50mm DP be a restriction? EGT's? Turbo spooling

The turbo size itslf is the biggest restriction on perfromance on those tdi's . So anything after the turbo does very little. Unless you are putting a bigger turbo on you will not gain from downpipes and silencer changes. If the cat/dpf is blocked then you will gain from removing it. Other than that don't bother unless you fit a bigger turbo.
