Intake
Hi Guys
I have a 74kw 1.9tdi polo.
I plan to do software in this month, however was thinking of doing intake and DP one time but i have read that a intake on a diesel wont make much difference.
Any help??

Re: Intake
Hi, a intake doesn't help and don't be fooled into buying that eighty6 automotive coz that's a waste of time. From what I hear a down pipe does not make a difference on a stock turbo. Just go with your software and later on a intercoolerNabbyM32 wrote:Hi Guys

Re: Intake
Very true. Downpipe only if you go BT on a stock turbo it makes no difference. Just SW and FMIC decat and your sorted.Deezo777 wrote:Hi, a intake doesn't help and don't be fooled into buying that eighty6 automotive coz that's a waste of time. Re: Intake
That's correct. I have a decat with the stock exhaust. I just have a fmic with software nothing aggressive. Has enough power and still extremely light.TD HIGH wrote:Very true. Re: Intake
Do your software and go from there, I had software, a decat and the larger PD160 intake pipe leading to the airbox on my 9n Polo. Software made the biggest difference and is the best value for money.

Re: Intake
Thanks guys, appreciate the help.
Think ill just stick to the SW , Decat and FMIC for now.
I still want the car to be reliable as it is a daily.

Re: Intake
You'll be surprised how intake temperatures rise due to the SMIC's in these cars after a few hard runs.Ashveer03 wrote:Doubt u actually "need" a fmic with a 74kw turbo.. speak to ur tuner

Re: Intake
Yeah a fmic will help drop temp on that stock turbo..
But i doubt kp39 turbos produce enough boost to heat soak the smic. If im not mistaken the max tuned boost on a kp39 is around 1.3-1.4bar. Thats more or less stock boost on a sportline and the coolers seem to be the same size (havnt really compared). Hence i said, u dont really "need" a fmic

Re: Intake
Run logs and find out, we did it a while back when I had a PD130 and @dazza had a PD160, both with software and the PD130 heat soaked the SMIC very quickly.Ashveer03 wrote:Yeah a fmic will help drop temp on that stock turbo..

Re: Intake
I know that a PD130 heat soaks like crazy. Thats a billet wheel bv39 with 550cc injectors - i wont even compare it to a 74kw.
OP has a 74kw/PD100 = kp39 turbo. Max tuned boost on that turbo is around the same as stock boost on a pd130. I agree that IAT's are better with the fmic, but on a mildly tuned 74kw its not needed - well just an opinion..
