Recommend detailer in Cape Town

Post by Williaml »

So my 2014 GTI has just gone over 90 000km. I decided not to extend the MP. It hasn't self-destructed yet...
I'm still happy with the car, and it will be paid off by end-2018.
So far only downpipe. Performance is adequate and fuel economy good, getting 550-600km per tank.

I'm considering power/suspension upgrades at some point, but for now just want to do a bit of TLC, i.e. detail.
I guess I want a Polish and Wax? Does it matter whwere I take it?
Can you guys recommend a decent place in Cape Town or Southern Suburbs please.

If you are having to ask if it matters where you take it, then I suspect you have a very limited knowledge of detailing, given that a shoddy 'detailer' can wreak absolute havoc on your car, at a great expense to you. Look I'm really not trying to be a ****, but my advice will be to educate yourself first, then decide what it is from a detail you actually need. If you don't, you open yourself up to being taken for a ride by the detailer, which is sadly an all too common thing lately.

As a starting point, I'd suggest you read through this thread http://vwclub.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=166322, then this one http://vwclub.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=180689

Quite frankly, unless you already wash the car yourself, or if you at least intend on doing that going forward, then getting the paint corrected as part of the detail is just a waste of the detailers time, your money, and most importantly, the car's paint, as the local car wash will very quickly return your car to its present condition through their poor washing and drying techniques.
