Wipe/clean with a damp micro fibre cloth and then apply, should be fine.

Otherwise PM Lawrence, he might be able to suggest something at CD

:hi:

I wouldn't actually go that route if I were you.

In terms of leather, you want to clean and protect it, and the alcantara just needs to be cleaned/maintained, not protected.

The leather:

Vacuum to remove loose dirt
Clean using your choice of leather cleaner - you get light, medium and strong cleaners depending on the level of cleaning required (BMW make a decent strong cleaner, AF makes what I reckon is a light to medium cleaner called Hide, but I don't personally like it, and Glossworx also make one, which I prefer. However, a quality APC like the one Cyclo makes is great for cleaning leather - dilute at 1:15 and use a shoe brush).
Then you need to protect the leather, which in reality is coated with a 'vinyl' like coating - it is not natural raw leather hide. The difference being that a genuine leather conditioner once placed on a coated surface (like most modern interiors) has nowhere to go - it cannot penetrate into the leather and sits on the top, eventually causing more damage than good. I have started using Collinite 855 for this.

The Alcantara:

On the last 1M I detailed I used Valet Pro Citrus pre-wash diluted at 1:80 with excellent results. http://www.vwclub.co.za/forum/viewtopic ... 0&t=177266

To preserve the beauty of Alcantara is recommended that regular cleaning is performed. Application of a high quality fabric guard or coating is strongly recommended

DO NOT RUB TOO VIGOROUSLY, this will crush the texture and destroy the finish of alcantara.

The use of steam machines is not recommended when cleaning Alcantara.

Weekly cleaning or after every car wash- Use a soft brush (preferably a boar or horse hair brush), a dry cloth or simply a vacuum to remove the dust off the alcantara. After your alcantara has been dusted, run a slightly damped (not soaked) white cotton cloth over it (a high quality cotton terry towel will do a better job than a microfiber towel). AVOID the use of printed cloths or papers as they can release ink onto the material.

Don't spray anything directly on the alcantara, spray it into the towel you're using then wipe gently

There is also some more info in this thread I posted....

The dilution ratio.

So for example, the VP Citrus Pre-wash I diluted 1 part of prewash to 80 parts of water for the Alcantara cleaning.
For the APC it is 1 part neat APC to 15 parts water.

Just on this subject - a handy tip for working out ratios especially the more complex ones like 1:6 and 1:25 and so on.

- determine what size bottle you are using. This method will work with any size bottle. So lets say we using a 600 ml bottle.

- add the ratio together. So 1:6 will 7 and 1:25 will be 26. Then take volume of the bottle and divide it by this number

- so 1:6 in a 600ml bottle works out to 1 part being 85.7ml. You can just round it off to the nearest decimal if you dont want to be overly pedantic.

- then 1:25 in the same size bottle works out to 1 part being 23ml.

You can work it backwards just to see whether you are correct - 85.7 x 7 = 599.9ml

This method will with any size bottle and any ratio.

Lets try a 2:10 ratio in a 750ml bottle just to show you it works..

- 2+10 = 12

- divide 750ml by 12

- one part equals to 62.5ml

- Just to check whether you are correct, 2 parts works out to 125ml, while 10 parts is 625ml

- 125ml + 625ml = 750ml

Hope this helps...
