Mitch,

I really don't see the point of buying another AIO at this stage, try what you have, if you aren't happy then consider other products because money

Try not to duplicate products if you can. If you already have Tripple then stick with it. You not going to see a huge benefit of Cleaner wax over tripple or vice versa. If need be, you might want a more aggressive polish for tougher areas else it will be much over muchness.

You could introduce an extra STEP in the detail process. i.e, compound, then polish, then wax. Cleaner wax and tripple will fall more into step2 + step3. Banana Magic will fall into the last step. So where you really lacking will be the first step, which is compounding (swirl removal)

Menzerna SF2500 with a microfiber applicator will yield really good results, and if the paint is really bad then you could go FG400. But assess the paintwork first. Go through the steps, you only should compound as the last resort. Sometimes it is necessary though.

Hope this makes sense ?

Re: First time mini detail

Post by Mitch »

After spending 2 days sort of detailing both my wife and my cars, the big has bitten. I have told my wife that I would like a Dual action Polisher for my birthday.

I will upload more detail and some pics when I get back to work on Monday.

Briefly, the process was pretty simple to follow, and the products chosen were easy to use. Took an entire day for each car, excluding interior. I am happy with the outcome. No correction was done, this will be sorted when I get a DA polisher.

The process followed on both cars:
- Clean Tyres and Arches with APC
- Wash and decontaminate wheels
- Dress arches

- Wash and dry car
- Spray and rinse off Oblitarate
- Spray and rinse of Iron Out
- Wash and dry car
- Clay car
- Clean glass
- Apply Tripple
- Dress tyres
- Dress trim
- Seal glass
- Stand back and look at shiny car

I did my car on Wednesday and haven't used it since, so she still is dust free. The moment I drive it will be covered in dust.

It is a time consuming exercise but very rewarding. No one can use the excuse of not having the equipment (DA, HP washer) etc to look after their car. I did this all by hand and used a normal green hosepipe to do this detail. I also managed to do 2 cars from the products I purchased.

Thanks Lawrence and Kyle for the tips and advice both before and during.

PS. One of my neighbours' looked at me a bit weird when I put on the blue gloves.

I take my hat off to the detailers that are able to properly document a detail with pictures. I found it very hard to take pictures as I just wanted to get started in the beginning, just wanted to carry on when I was busy, and just wanted to go sit down when I was done.

Onto a few pics from my work.

From my car I only have after photos. Definitely an improvement in the shine after decontamination and Tripple.

Unfortunaley not much reflection on the white car, but when she parks next to another white car there is a hugely noticeable difference in the vibrance of the white colour. She has also got a few shiny car comments from non car people.
