Polo 1.9 TDI - Sportline

Post by J-10-M »

What are the components replaced on the Polo 1.9 TDI - Sportline at 90000km service?

Is it the cambelt, waterpump etc. What does it generally cost, be it through the stealers or private?

Is the 90 000km service or 120 000km service the bigger one??

Thanks

They inspect the cam belt and water pump at 90000 and only replace when necessary...

what does the cam belt and waterpump replacement cost?

I assume those are the 2 biggest 'parts' expenses in the service?

So the major service happens more commonly at 120000km or is it 105000km?

The belt gets done at 120000km the service form the dealers runs at about R9600.00
The 90000km service is not a major service.

Changed mine at 85000/6 years and it looked good, but when you twist it you will see fine cracks in the belt.

I have just hit 160 000kms did the basic service but was also wondering when to do the cambelt.

Has anyone done the cambelt? as I intend to do it myself and want to know if there is anything that I need to be aware of.

cambelts get done every 120000km or about 6 yrs.
If you travel to mine areas etc replace every 75000km specially when going to platinum mines.
You can do it your self just need to lock the camshaft and the cranck also needs to be locked with a gear tool.

Would then suggest you do it sooner rather then later as you do not want the repair bill if the cambelt snaps

Had mine done after 5 and a bit years - mileage on 85k. The belt had some wear on it especially when you bent it inside out - cracks and small chips in the belt here and there.
If it snaps - say goodbye to the head. A mate of mine had 2 cambelt snaps on his and strange thing no damage to the motor at all!

Hi

I just bought a Polo Tdi Highline 96KW - 2009. On 85500 kms

I got them to replace the cam belt now.

Next service is in DEC - I presume this would be the 90 000 kms service?

Is there anything else major that needs to be attended to with this one?

Waterpump? Arent they meant to check that when they do the cam belt? What does that cost?

thanks

Had a cambelt failure on my polo, Went for the 90k service, Was told that the cambelt was still good but suggested we change at the 105K service as the car was 6 years old. 2 days after the service while driving I felt a sudden loss in power, Limped home, got the car towed to VW who found 8 teeth broke off the cambelt, luckily the timing only went out with 3 teeth. No head damage or anything. Replaced cam belt, and car was 100s again.

Waterpump was replaced at 120k service and cost a tad under R5k for the service, waterpump and labour.

That is a good idea my mechanic has always given me sound advise and he told me it should be done on every cambelt service.
