Don't need a sub frame it's a lot work to fit the VR into a MK1

If you do it yourself, I'd say about R35-R40k.

Nope, that is just to get the motor and minimum stuff and get it to be a running car.

Are there any pros and cons to this
Wat needs to change to fit cable shift an the vr box. Does motor and box mounts change and how?

 Dude, there's no 'kit' for a build like this. There is just a crap load of fabrication.
Look at this and then decide: http://www.vwclub.co.za/phpbb3/viewtopi ... 1&t=129537

Gents has anyone actually been able to make the VR6 Swap work?
I am busy with one at the moment and have a few questions.

1. How did you get the internals to work? Speed and rev count? If you have been able to get these successfully working may i please ask you to tell me who wired the car up for you? Oh i am using the Velocity MP9 Harness & control box in the car.
2. Radiator and fans? What radiator did you use and how many fans are you using? which car did they come from or are they custom made?

Thank you so much, i would really appreciate the help with this.

Hello Vdubbers. Apologies for raising this thread from the dead. But every thread concerning this I've come across does not give me the answers I need.
I have a 81 2 door Mark1. Recently procured her. Has a 2lt 8v, Mp9 no aftermarket management. This is being built as a Sunday morning chill driver, and the Friday bring your toy to work sort of car.Not interested in power. Or the fact that its kak more expensive to go this route vs 8/16v .Long story short I want a VR6 engine in a Mk1.
I know where to get the Mount Kit. I know where to get the engine and gearbox.
I an searching for a tuner who's done this conversion before and Is crazy enough to help me do it again. Any assistance for someone in the North of Jhb preferably would be greatly appreciated. Me and my boring 2lt 8v thank you in advance.
