Help needed, amp and sub install
Howsit guys
I got a 2004 Polo Hatch factory fitted with a Jvc mp3 headunit. I know my way around a motor but not much or at all with sound. Would you guys recommend wiring all my stock speakers as well as tweeters, only the front have the back pods seem empty, onto the amp I have with my sub.
Audiobank ab-45n 4channel high performance 5400w amp and a Starsound 10' flat dvc sub.
How would you guys recommend this being done?
Much appreciated

Re: Help needed, amp and sub install
Yeah ideally use the front channel of your amp with the high pass filter for the splits and rear of the amp for the sub.

Only when you use gains as a volume knob.

Re: Help needed, amp and sub install
It's possible. But if its set up properly then all will be well.
In all honesty there is no way in hell that that amp produces 5400w. So you should be safe.

Re: Help needed, amp and sub install
I should be safe since I prefer realistic volume levels.
I should now be worried that my amp that states 5400w doesnt deliver.
I wired my dvc sub positive with positive and negative with negative, what would the pros and cons be with this step up?

Re: Help needed, amp and sub install
Nah don't worry that it does not make 5400w, most of the entry level amps claim more than they produce. If you listen at sane volumes then it will not be a problem.
DVC subs give you flexibility to create different impedances for amplifiers.
Confirm if its a dual 4 ohm voice coil or a dual 2 ohm. then I can advise how to connect.

Re: Help needed, amp and sub install
Your amp will be 2ohm stable per channel. So you would need to connect the coils in series and then bridge it.
So positive to negative.
This is not ideal as it will reduce the power to the sub but its best option for you.
A svc sub will work better.

Re: Help needed, amp and sub install
What would happen if I wired positive with positive and negative with negative connected on a single channel?

Re: Help needed, amp and sub install
You will end up with the same power going to the sub. But one channel will be putting out 100watts and the other zero watts. If you connect them bridged at 8 ohms then each channel puts out 50watts.
So its easier for the output transistors on the amp.

Re: Help needed, amp and sub install
I understand now, the only reason im asking is because I wired, like I asked about already, so it would now mean I need to open up the box to rewire.

Re: Help needed, amp and sub install
Yeah you would need to open up to fix.
You can leave it though. In theory it shouldn't hurt the amp. But obviously not ideal.
Try and sell your sub and grab a 4 ohm svc sub. That will be your best bet.
