Issues with Audison amp?
My hardware:
Alpine head unit (173BT)
Pioneer DVC's driven by Starsound monoblock.
RA Edge splits driven by Audison SRX2
RA speaker cables
4 gauge power cables split from the sub amp then to the other amp.
The problem
After playing the system at high volume, the tweeters seem to "die" or become dull. Lower the volume and its fine.
Anyone know of any explanation for this? Is the amp faulty or could it be connect incorrectly? or could the problem be the head unit?
I purchased the amp second hand from a speed n sound forum member.
I've been told that these amps are die hard, so what could it be?

Re: Issues with Audison amp?
You are most probally reaching clipping point on the amp,you need to lower your gains on the amp and see if it still does that.

Re: Issues with Audison amp?
It sounds as if the tweeters are melting away...I'm sure the midbass driver is doing the same, its just that I can only hear the difference from the tweeter because I hear the sudden drop/cut in treble. As soon as I lower the volume it gets back to 'normal' almost instantaneously.

Re: Issues with Audison amp?
Sounds like the power rating on the tweeter is on the low side. So voice coile heats up, impedance goes up and output goes down.
Maybe just swap the tweeters out for something better.

Re: Issues with Audison amp?
Probably the passive crossovers or the amp is not set up correctly...HOTSHOT-ZN wrote:My hardware:

Re: Issues with Audison amp?
The amp is actually very easy to set up as I'm not using the crossover on the amp. Only adjustment to make on the amp is gain control if running is straight.
