Thanks for the warm welcome guys great to be a part of the forum

i need some advice if you guys are able to help.

I have 175K on my car at the moment and My buddy advised me to get it decat.
Im thinking of doing it on saturday at profit in milnerton

I have checked out some videos on the sound of the car afterwards and it sounds GREAT but im afraid of leaving someone on my rear in a smoke cloud.

any advice would be appreciated

Welcome. :hi:

Do it! Don't worry about the smoke clouds. They just keep people from riding up your backside.

While you at it, get a software remap.

Search on the forum as well. There are lots of modded TDI's here and this has been discussed many, many times over. There are also videos of sound, and smoke so you can see what you getting yourself into.

Your decat can be done at any exhaust shop. I.e. Supaquik, Speedy, etc, etc. All they do is cut out the cat and replace it with a straight piece of pipe. Most people remove the box/es (Depending on car) as well, so it's a straight pipe all the way through. Others go for a smaller back box compared to the standard one. Either way, I would definitely recommend doing it. Expect to pay anything between R200 and R700 depending on where you go and what you do...

While searching on the forum just make sure your car doesn't need a cat fooler. Some vehicles do, and I'm not sure if the Golf 5 TDI does.
